About

Indigenous rangers

From the woodlands of the south, to the arid deserts of the centre, to the plentiful waters of the north, people have been managing the landscape of Australia for millenia.

Over thousands of years, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people have developed and harnessed knowledge that strengthens environment sustainability and fosters cultural well being.

Indigenous ranger programs draw upon this knowledge and connection to country to protect and manage land and sea country across Australia.

There are over 120 separate Indigenous Ranger groups in Australia, and we will be bringing you stories of some of the great work they are doing here.
