Congratulations on your historic appointment as the Minister for Indigenous Australians – it is significant for all Australians that an Aboriginal man holds this important position and can bring your perspective and lived experience to the portfolio and the cabinet.

I am a supporter of the Country Needs People campaign calling to grow and further secure funding for Indigenous rangers and Indigenous Protected Areas. I hope you share my view that these two programs are delivering powerful benefits for people and nature across the country, and I recognise your positive engagement with Indigenous rangers and the Country Needs People campaign to date.
