On Sunday, 18th September, my husband Merv and I had the very great pleasure to take two American visitors Hoang and Vivian Ngofrom San Diego, to the Mossman Gorge National Park in Far North Queensland. We were very, very impressed to see the indigenous people caring for this Park - quite a difference to our visits in 1983 and 2011, and working in the Cafeteria, Gift Shop and Admissions Office. As well we took a grea tinterest in the Training facility that is provided here and also noticed that care and pride in the local community as we commuted up to the Gorge Entrance. We took the time to compliment some of the workers who have been working here since given the opportunity only a few short years ago. It is about time we recognise these people are a very important part of our heritage and history so that our youngest citizens gain a sense of pride and love for our great country.
