Congratulations Minister Wyatt

Published: 27 Jun 2019

Ahead of the first sitting of the 46th Federal Parliament next week, we’d like to pause for a moment to recognise and welcome the significant announcement of Ken Wyatt, Noongar, Yamatji and Wongi man, as Australia’s first ever Indigenous member of Cabinet and Minister for Indigenous Australians.

This is a moment of note for all Australians.

The Indigenous affairs portfolio is a complex and challenging one. We want to work constructively with Minister Wyatt and all Members of Parliament to achieve growth and security for Indigenous rangers and Indigenous Protected Areas because of their powerful benefits for people and nature. Country Needs People is about working with all sides of politics for the best outcome for people working on and caring for country and culture.

You can join us in congratulating Minister Wyatt along with a reminder that supporting Indigenous rangers and Indigenous Protected Areas is an issue that’s important to you at this link. By sending a message to Minister Wyatt, you’ll help us in keeping Indigenous rangers and Indigenous Protected Areas at the front of mind of all politicians.
