Published: 7 Aug 2020I experienced first hand the valuable work of Aboriginal environmental and primary health care workers in north west WA. They repeatedly addressed the shortfall for communities from non-Indigenous programs and demonstrated the success of traditional knowledge and skills for solving local problems with local solutions. First Nations people were the caretakers and custodians of this land for 100,000 years. Through the Ranger program, Country Needs People recognises this deep knowledge and provides valuable employment for Indigenous people in protecting and conserving country and wildlife for the future benefit of everyone. The success of the program lies in true partnerships, mutual respect and the sharing of knowledge for the greater good. Congratulations!
