I experienced first hand the valuable work of Aboriginal environmental and primary health care workers in north west WA. They repeatedly addressed the shortfall for communities from non-Indigenous programs and demonstrated the success of traditional knowledge and skills for solving local problems with local solutions. First Nations people were the caretakers and custodians of this land for 100,000 years. Through the Ranger program, Country Needs People recognises this deep knowledge and provides valuable employment for Indigenous people in protecting and conserving country and wildlife for the future benefit of everyone. The success of the program lies in true partnerships, mutual respect and the sharing of knowledge for the greater good. Congratulations!

Country Needs People is a national not-for-profit organisation born from the support of hundreds of Traditional Owners around the country.

We pay our respects to all the First Nations people around Australia and their unbroken commitment to keep Country strong on land and sea. We acknowledge Indigenous partners, Traditional Owners, Elders past, present and emerging and extend our appreciation of their support and guidance of our daily work.
