Indigenous Land & Sea Rangers in Queensland care for some of the most unique ecological environments in the world, with Queensland’s Ranger program deemed as best practice in Australia.

As of time of publishing in 2019, more than 100 Indigenous Rangers across 23 regional locations were supported through the Queensland Indigenous Land and Sea Ranger program. 

Queensland’s approach is recognised as a leading model due to their ranger program providing realistic operational budgets. They are also supported by a specialised unit within the QLD environment department which works alongside individual Ranger groups to strengthen and support their work and build collaboration with government agencies, researchers, local authorities and other stakeholders.
