New Partner: Bibbul Ngarma Aboriginal Association

We’re excited to announce that Bibbul Ngarma Aboriginal Association (BNAA) is Country Needs People’s newest partner.

Founded in 2022, BNAA is located in the Perth Hills on Whadjuk-Noongar Boodja, and their BoorYul-Bah-Bilya Ranger team (BBB Rangers) protect Country along rivers and reserves in Boorloo. Unfortunately, less than 1% of major rivers in WA are in pristine condition, with river health continuing to decline.

The BBB Rangers team are working along waterways and in reserves, parks and forest across the Mandoon Bilya (Helena River) catchment to care for Country and support the development of the BBB model. They do this through land and water management, ecosystem restoration, biodiversity monitoring, environmental sampling, invasive species control, fire management, cultural mapping, community events and more.

It’s so great to see the BB Rangers developing a first of its kind river catchment management model that integrates environmental, social, cultural and economic values embedded with local knowledge – the whole model of which can be transferred to other systems to achieve transformation at a large and necessary scale.

We’re excited that the BNAA team have hit the ground running and look forward to seeing their great work out on Country.
